QUESTA (Mathematics)

Online examination will conduct a open competition in mathematics. As per the National mathematics study committee report says that the need for teaching maths is to make children to think creatively to act creatively and to do creatively.

These things can be achieved by teaching mathematics more as a process than as a product and the very purpose of teaching mathematics is to provide to the children facts, concepts, making children to develop carefulness in making statements.

The students from class 6 th to 12th appear in it. Questa will be conducted separately for each class. The final round of the competition will be held at the end of the session. The competition will be conducted in following steps:

OBJECTIVES OF QUESTA:

  • To make the children to learn mathematical attitude.
  • To make the children to think and answer quickly.
  • To consolidate and rapid revision of mathematical facts.
  • To develop critical thinking among children.
  • To develop a situation for children to understand and to answer immediately.
  • To faster creative instincts among children.
  • To make children to get an awareness about the contribution of mathematics and latest discoveries.

 

STEP 1: KNOWLEDGE ROUND

             This round will be conducted online. It will consist of questions based on mathematical aptitude, logical aptitude, Knowledge of children in mathematics. The paper will carry 30 questions and each question will carry 2 marks. For each correct answer 2 marks will be awarded and 0.25 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer. The duration of paper will be 30 minutes.

STEP 2: TRIVIA ROUND

         This round will also be conducted online. It will consist of general questions in mathematics as per the age group of a child and also from syllabus. Questions in this round will be story based. The story can be related to the lives of popular mathematician, Achievements of different mathematicians and theorems given in mathematics. The participant has to identify it after going through the story / description. The paper will carry 10 questions and each question will carry 2 marks. For each correct answer 2 marks will be awarded and 0.25 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer. The duration of paper will be 20 minutes.                  

STEP 3: VISUAL ROUND

          This round will also be conducted online. It will consist of questions based mathematics. Questions in this round will consist of pictures and videos related to mathematical concept ,mathematician and national achievements in the field of maths. The participant has to identify it after seeing it. The paper will carry 10 questions and each question will carry 2 marks. For each correct answer 2 marks will be awarded and 0.25 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer. The duration of paper will be 20 minutes.       

STEP 4: BUZZER ROUND

          On the basis of score obtained by the student in above three steps, elimination will be done and four groups will be made for this round. Each group will consist of 6 to 8 students. These groups will be invited at one place (to be declared later). In this round questions will be asked to the group and anyone who gives right answer first will be awarded 10 marks. There will be no negative marking. The winner will be declared after two OR three rounds as per the number of students. The result will be declared on the same day and will be followed by prize distribution.
